Great road trips for Gold Coast motorcyclists

If you’re an avid motorcyclist, you’ll know that nothing beats a Sunday ride along winding hinterland or coastal roads. If you’re looking for some inspiration for some great road trips around the Gold Coast area, here are some suggestions from our team of towing experts.

Lions Road

Lions Road is a winding 96km road that connects Beaudesert to Kyogle, offering a 1.5 hours of riding time. This winding route heads straight through the Scenic Rim of the Queensland hinterland and takes you through local towns and the lush tropical rainforests of Border Ranges National Park. Stop off for a beer and meal at the legendary Rathdowney Pub or call into Rathlogan Grove.

Brisbane to Mount Mee

Located just outside of the Gold Coast, this route begins at The Gap, west of Brisbane and snakes its way through picturesque mountain roads. This route offers smooth corners, bumpy s-bends and long straight stretches of open road. While this 200km stretch can be done in a day travelling from Brisbane, if you’re coming from the Goldie, maybe spend the night before returning.

Coolangatta to Springbrook

If you want to set off from the south of the Gold Coast, then this route is perfect. Offering tonnes of tight and twisty corners and great lookouts, this 50km trip will give you the best of the coast and hinterland. When you arrive in Springwood there are plenty of local cafes and nature walks to keep you entertained. This trip can be done in an hour but can be extended as a circuit or return trip.
